Endoscopy Department

About the Endoscopy Department

St Wojciech’s hospital performs endoscopic examinations of the upper (gastroscopy) and lower (colonoscopy) gastrointestinal tract. Endoscopic examinations in our department are conducted by specialists who continually broaden their knowledge and skills.

During the examinations we use equipment for endoscopic procedures, monitor the quality of testing and provide you with the best possible conditions of stay to avoid any inconvenience during the examination.

The endoscopic procedures of the upper (gastroscopy) and lower (colonoscopy) gastrointestinal tract are conducted in High Definiton (HD) technology with equipment of the German manufacturer KARL STORZ, which allows us to obtain high quality images and register the images in a selected form, for example as an image print-out, files saved on a storage medium, a film of the whole procedure. In this way we can maintain our records according to the most up-to-date guidelines of leading medical societies.

Endoscopic procedures

  • gastroscopy – esophagogastroduodenoscopy (also with a rapid urease test for helicobacter pylori and resection of material for the histopathological examination),
  • colonoscopy (including resection of material for histopathological examination),
  • removal of polyps (polypectomy) of the upper and lower digestive tract,
  • rectoscopy,
  • banding and/or endoscopic obliteration of esophageal varices (sclerotherapy),
  • placement of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) for patients with planned long-term enteral nutrition,
  • treatment of gastrointestinal angiodysplasia (vascular lesions) with argon,
  • insertion of a gastric ballon in the treatment of obesity.
