- ineffective pharmacotherapy and peritoneal dialysis.
Contraindications
- absence of suitable vessels for creating the fistula.
Treatment options:
Surgery with the use of the patient’s own blood vessels, and if there are no suitable veins, with the use of vascular prosthesis.
Eligibility
The decision on the eligibility is made by a nephrologist.
Procedure:
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia; it lasts from about 15 to 1.5 hours.
After procedure:
A several-hour stay at the Department is recommended.
