Cervical polypectomy with endometrial biopsy of cervical canal and uterine body

Indications:

  • abnormal changes in the vaginal portion of uterine cervix,
  • abnormal cytological smear.

Before treatment:

Two weeks prior to the procedure, the following blood tests should be collected:

  • blood cell count,
  • electrolyte panel,
  • coagulation factors,
  • blood typing,
  • glucose test,
  • creatinine test,
  • HBsAg test,
  • anti-HCV antibody test.

About the procedure:

This procedure is performed to remove pathological tissue growing out of the uterine cervix (polyps) and/or to collect an ectocervical sample (for example in the case of abnormal cervical smear results).
Cervical polypectomy is usually combined with endometrial biopsy of the cervical canal and sometimes also of the uterine body.
The procedure lasts about 15-20 minutes.

After treatment:

After the procedure the patient requires short-term observation in order to monitor for any complications (such as bleeding).
