Endometrial biopsy of cervical canal and uterine body

Two weeks prior to the procedure, the following blood tests should be collected:

• blood cell count,
• electrolyte panel,
• coagulation factors,
• blood typing,
• glucose test,
• creatinine test,
• HBsAg test,
• anti-HCV antibody test.

This procedure is performed to collect an endometrial sample from the cervical canal and uterine body for a histological examination (for example in the case of abnormal bleeding from the uterus).
On average the procedure lasts about 10-15 minutes and it is usually performed under short general anaesthesia.
