Breast reduction surgery in patients with proper pre-operative preparation does not carry a significantly high risk of complications. Haematoma in the post-operative wound may occur. Inflammation and pus discharge complications are rare.

The most common indications include breast asymmetry, either primary or after oncological surgeries, breasts which are too large and affect the patient’s functioning, sagging breasts with a lowered nipple-areola complex.
