During an evaluation visit, the doctor will perform a full ophthalmic examination:
- Your uncorrected and best corrected visual acuity will be determined for both eyes.
- Eye drops will be administered which paralyse eye accommodation and dilate the pupils.
Important! You may have a blurred vision for a few hours after receiving the drops and you should not drive during that time.
- Other eye conditions and systemic diseases will be excluded that may disqualify you from the procedure.
- After reviewing your results, taking detailed measurements of your cornea (its shape, curvature and thickness) and determining your pupil size, your doctor will recommend a suitable type of surgery to you. This is the best time to bring up any uncertainties and doubts associated with the procedure with the ophthalmologist.
Evaluation for the procedure at the St. Adalbert’s Hospital consists of two stages: ophthalmic examination and optometric examination.
Based on the ophthalmic examination, the ophthalmologist determines the patient’s eligibility for a given laser vision correction procedure.
The optometric examination is used to establish precise values necessary for the planning of the laser procedure. The examination takes place on the day of the surgery.
Important!
You should not use your contact lenses for 7 days before the evaluation visit, since they affect the shape and condition of the cornea.
